I have seen references to an icon editor that should be available within visual studio. I can't find it! How do I fire it up?

Thanks in advance

I've never heard about an icon editor in Visual Studio and never found one in VS.NET
Try to search for "+Icon +editor" in you'll find many freewares or sharewares that'll do the stuff. Water is not bad as long as it stays out human body ;-)

It's a while since I,ve used it but I think it's part of Visual C installation

Hope this helps Gary Parker

Hmmm - I had heard the same about it being part of Visual C++ installation and did a partial install (didn't want to use up a heap of disk space for one little tool) but I still don't know if I have it, or, if I do, how to fire it up.

I do have another icon editor but it does not seem to be capable of doing 16x16. I guess if there is one with Visual Studio, I'd rather use that one.

If I remember rightly when you go into Visual C++ it's one of the file types in the open dialog.

Sorry I can't be more specific I don't have Visual Studio anymore and as I say it's been a while.

Good Luck Gary Parker

I personaly use "IconShop 1.13" that is a freeware that permits all sizes from 16x16 to 96x96 in many color color depth. It isn't an icon editor but rather an icon organizator that allow to group them in '.icl' files but it's big strength is that it allow drag'n drop and cut an paste. So, what I do to create new icons is create a bitmap with an image editor and then cut and paste it into IconShop. Water is not bad as long as it stays out human body ;-)

The Imagedit.exe (bmp, ico editor) ships with VB6/Visual Studio.

Should be under

\Programs\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\IMAGEDIT\IMAGEDIT.EXE

or on the CD [/b][/i][/u]*******************************************************
General remarks:
If this post contains any suggestions for the use or distribution of code, components or files of any sort, it is still your responsibility to assure that you have the proper license and distribution rights to do so!

I found it under : VS.NET\Common7\Tools\Bin\winnt\ImagEdit.Exe Water is not bad as long as it stays out human body ;-)

Actually I had tried searching for IMAGEDIT.EXE to no avail as I had seen it referred to on another site. However I have now searched the Visual Studio CD's - it is on disk 3 under Common\Tools\VB\IMAGEDIT.

Thank you all
