For email access outside of the LAN on a PDA - what protocol for your exchange/PDA do you use? I want the quickest access and most of my users keep a fair amount of email in their in box and other folders. Thanks
We tried PDA sync to Exchange over telepathy but it didn't work.
OMA - Outlook Mobile Access - is a non bandwidth intensive implementation in a similar vein to OWA designed for 9.6k mobile phone links where bandwidth is very limited. It does not go near IMAP or POP.
And yes, you'll do quite well with an Internet connection for Exchange and some form of 3G / GPRS link for the PDA.
Oh, against my recommendations - they went with Treo 650s. Not a bad device in itself. But the Versa mail software stinks. I am not 100% up on Palm OS - so I don't know if there are other 3rd party email clients or not. I can get IMAP to work fine on Pocket PC PDA - but not on the Verizon Treo with Versa Mail. Give it, the Pocket PC is accessing over a hot spot or Wi-Fi - the Treo PDA through Verizon's Nation Access Network. So I don't know if the issue lies in the Versa mail software or the Verizon Network - can surf just fine.
I cannot get VersaMail to work with my IMAP at all. No problem on PocketPC. You are the first person to give VersaMail kuddos - that I have run into. Like I said before, I am not a big user of the Palm OS - so hence the reason. What service or how are you connecting to your server?
Maybe it's great for you but not for us!!! Yes, it's much better than Mymail from Rogers. Same like Chatter-email, it's a good software but my users don't like it
