Hi there,

We recently changed our IP addresses on our SCCS 5.0 which has a webclient which is NOT co-res. When I connect to it from my desktop, i cannot run Historical Reports. It says there was an error connecting to the server. We've had this error in the past when the SCCS server and the webclient server weren't talking to each other. BUT I can go on the webclient server itself and run historical reports just fine. So it's not an issue with the servers talking to each other.

On a possibly related note, the IP change has also given us issues with multicast and the real-time displays. The servers are on their own VLAN, is it possible that's affecting the connection from my desktop?

Any suggestions on how to resolve? We have our IT folks looking into our network issues, but they haven't had any luck yet. . .

Thanks in advance.

It may be a DNS issue, I guess the server name still points to the old IP address???

It is not a DNS issue as we are able to connect to the webclient (although we DID have this issue). We are able to connect, and login but cannot do anything once we are in there. SOAP is installed and it is a Trusted site.

You could look in the hosts file of SCCS and SWC to see that the correct CLAN IP and computer name is listed. The hosts file is found here:

Windows 2000 server - c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows 2003 server - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

You can open the hosts file with notepad. Be sure to save a copy of the original hosts file in case you make a mistake and need to put the old one back.

IP addresses are correct in the hosts file. Webclient is accessible from a desktop PC, but cannot do anything when logged in.

If the servers are on their own VLAN what is doing the routing or bridging between the Client VLAN and the server VLAN? And is it set up to allow HTTP traffic to route across the VLANs?

I would re-check that the SWC site and about:blank are added as trusted sites and that all active X controls are enabled for that zone. Also, I would re-install the client controls MSI file to be sure you have all the correct Active X controls installed.

Hope this helps
Rob
