I have a client who is running on Office 365 for email. Their IT vendor told me that Office 355 requires encryption so I upgraded the IP Office to 9.1 and now I see the encryption option and have enabled it. The client uses embedded voicemail. The voicemail to email is still not working and the IT vendor is telling me that Office 365 will not work at all with an Avaya IP Office. What is the truth and how do I get this working?

I have several customers using Office 365 to relay voicemail to email. Their IT company is incorrect and likely incompetent if they cannot figure out a simple SMTP relay and start blaming your hardware. The link that janni78 sent you has all of the info they will need.

rdoubrava, please enlighten us on why you wouldn't use a SMTP relay.

You can do this. I have done this on several IP Office's and printers. I didn’t think this was anything special. The IPO were embedded.

To get started read this TechNet article

I have used both methods without a SMTP relay.
There is a direct send option, but only available if you are sending the e-mails to the same domain... no external address are allowed.

The start TLS option is available on 9.0 & 9.1 software.
I think there were some service packs that didn't work correctly. I remember upgrading a system in order for it to work. I know this works on 9.0 sp7 and sp8

okey, so that's the same page as I linked to.
