I switched a customer from BCM 50 to IP Office and I would like to know if it's possible to get rid of the beep beep beep when doing a direct call. It is driving the owner crazy when the receptionist calls him. I tried to use dial paging but that is only 1 way speech path. Can we reduce it to 1 beep if we can't do away with it?

dial direct will give you two way speech

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

But is it possible to get rid of the 3 beeps on direct dial?

The beeps are to let someone know that the "voicecall" has been opened up on their phone. This is to prevent eavesdropping. The BCM had a voicecall tone as well.

Yes but it only did 1 beep and 1 beep is better than 3.

Come on now, are they like 6 years old or something? 1 beep to 3 beeps isn't that bad. FYI with dial paging he can hit the conf key to talk back :-)

"No problem monkey socks

Imagine "beep beep beep", over about 3/4 of a second. It's the same tone as the "conference entrance" tone, only repeated three times in a row.

I have yet to have anyone complain about that tone who has moved from the Nortel world, but I don't have many customers who use voice call or "dial direct", whichever you prefer calling it.
