In attempting to upgrade to Vista Business from XP home, the installation hangs right after I enter the product code and hit enter. It also hangs if I manually select the version of Vista I have.
The Task Manager goes to 100% CPU usage and the hard drive light weakly flashes intermittantly but after more than 2 hours of this, nothing more happens. I can Alt Tab to XP but the installation just stops.
According to the compatability program, I have no hardware issues as I am running a Pentium 4 2.4 gHz Intel CPU, 1 GB of RAM, NVidia GeForce FX 5500 on an Intel D865PERL Mother board.
I disable my AVG antivirus as well as kill all the processes in Task Manager for the antivirus. I kill Zone Alarm as well and Spyware Guard and Windows Defender so I don't think any of these are the problem though who knows?
I have tried to use the VCdControlTool app as the copy I have is from a 10 license DVD and I was allowed to make a copy as there is only the one install DVD and I needed the back up. Trying to install from either the DVD or the image file brings up the same results.
Any help y'all could give would be greatly appreciated.
