Hello everyone!

At my company, we have a Dedicated server hosted over a web company. Dell PowerEdge Server with Win2k Server...

We have 4 Corporate stores that we would like to use Centralized Databases..

Is it wise to Install our VFP app on that server and use Microsoft Terminal Sevices?

We have DSL @ our offices and the server is hooked-up with a Dedicated Fractional T1 and Sisco Routers, Firwalls, etc...

But, we can setup user names and stuff. no problem..

I am just wondering about the performance of the VFP app... Not too big, 1 Database with about 15 Tables Max....

I know on MS Terminal Services, everything runs on the server and what transfers is the screen image and the keyboard keystorkes... So, is that a good way of running centralized DB?

Thank you in advance!

We have been using Terminal servers for 5 years now, and the advantage with that is, like you say, it only records keystrokes, as oppose to you using live data. It's like anothe layer over the table buffering. In other words if the client crashes, there is no damage to the tables. We have a 1.7megs ADSL dedicated line and even on a Pentium I station, it "almost" feels like using it "live". We also use Citrix Metaframe and honestly Terminal Services are just as good ( and a lot cheaper). The only disadvantage to Terminal Services, is the user cannot access his own peripherals ( as appose to Citrix, where the user can see his own drives, his own printers, CD rom)

Hope that helps
