Can someone help me in understanding - how can I copy the announcement on the VAL board thru VAL manager. When I try to upload a wav or mp3 file on the VAL board, the VAL manager gives me an error that the compression is not supported. Avaya local support says that the file should be recorded either as a alaw or mu-law codecs?? I don't understand how can I change the existing files to the VAL supported formats...

Can someone help..

Just use your standard Windows recorder to open the file and then do "save as". You will see that you can also change the audio codec there.

Notice that when you transferred the wav's in the VAL, it will take a few minutes before they are active.

The VAL board will not accept MP3 files, only .wav files. The following is some info for you about the recording parameters...

Troubleshooting poor sound quality

If you played an announcement files back in another environment and it sounded great, but when you play it back in the DEFINITY environment the sound quality is poor, ensure that the file formats are compatible. A good
announcement file format must be:

n 8Kbps sample rate

n 8-bit resolution (bits per sample)

n A-law or Mu-law companding format

n Mono (channels = 1)

You must also have the same companding mode administered on page 1 of the Country Options screen (change system-parameters country-options).

Thanks Netcon,
Will keep a check on this..

I used vox studio 3 this allows you to convert the files into an A-Law format.
