I am trying to setup my Val board to access via FTP
already setup an ip-add on node-names
already setup ip-interfaces and also setup ethernet-options for full duplex speed
enable ethernet port on ip-interfaces

everything is setup correctly
try to ping that ip-add or node-name for that board and fails

error code 1007
dont know what else to do
check other val boards and all of them have the same configuration same firmware everything looks fine and those works
change ethernet cable from my val to the switch, check switch configuration and looks fine
just dont know what else can be
thanks!

i suggest you check your wiring of the val board to the ethernet switch. if you cannot ping its either a cabling problem or otherwise a problem that your switch is not configures correctly, ie. the port which the val connects to is on another vlan than your pc is..or another subnet...

Don't forget to add the Data Module. You need a spare extension number and a processor link. The DM uses port 33 on the VAL board.

I see you said "other VAL boards" check "display system-parameters customer-options" and "display capacity" and make sure you have not exceeded your maximum number of VAL boards.

Statements expressed in this post are my own opinions and should not be considered as the opinion of my employer.

Error Code 1007 is a Ping test failure... I experienced this exact problem. Try pinging the IP Address with the -T flag. If you get sporadic replies, configure the board for 10Meg / Half Duplex. You might also configure your Ethernet switch port for 10/Half as well. It's a step down, but I have done this and have seen no problems since.

Good Luck!

As an FYI:

Once you figure it out. You may also want to upgrade your firmware to FW007. While you're doing that, you should check all your other boards (CLAN, MEDPRO, etc..)and make sure they're at the latest release...

Thanks,
Chris

thanks, it was a problem with the port on my switch
just set it up to full duplex
thanks everyone

fyi: if you are running firmware 6 on your VAL board, you should upgrade to firmware 7. there are issues with firmware 6 where you can lose announcements.

can i just upgrade my val without having to upgrade other boards

If you upgrade to FW007, the board will arbitraily protect announcements. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it does this. I have a network outtage announcement that gets updated 2 or 3 times a day and i have to un protect the announcement. (i moved this announcement back to a FW006 board)

Also Settng up port speeds. If you set data switch to auto and the val to auto. you should be okay. But if you set a static speed on one side or the other you will have issues.
