We operate Novell 5.1 with windows 98 - on certain PC's the login name defaults permanently to the same user name not
the last user at that PC.This causes problems when swoppping PC's around - can anyone advise?
If I recall this was a fault with a couple of versions of the Client for Win 98, so get the latest client and see how you go. If you are updating the client then in this instance I would remove the client first then install it as opposed to just going over the top.
There is also some TID's on the Novell Support homepage. Search for -"Client""last logon""user name"
There is an option in the client that you can set these options.
Open the properties of the client, go to Location Profiles, select "Default" and Properties.. Choose "Properties" again and you'll get a dialog that looks very similar to a login box. You should see stuff like login name, context, etc.. There's also a checkbox called "Save Profile After Successful Login".
If you don't want the info to come up the next time it reboots, clear the User Name field, and uncheck the "Save After Successful Login" box. If you DO want the last login saved, make sure the box is checked.
