URGENT!!!!Need Help on MTS and Component Architecture

Hi,
I want to use MTS in my 3-tier application but before that i want to know
the benefits and demerits of using MTS .Can it slower down the application??
Also i have an option to use VB Components or VC Components with my Visual Basic based client application.( Client will be VB Application and Components would either be VB or VC based)
Which approach should a follow and Why???
Please Respond as i urgently need this help
