Did update in 2 separate manners.
1. Created new database, went to external data, selected all the fields from table, query, forms, reports etc and imported into database. Deleted table 1 which was created upon forming db. Some of the data in the a table did not import accurately. This is a table with annual entries from 2001 to 2010 containing data. Some of the data imported correctly and some of the data duplicated itself over several years. Each year should have different entries.

2. Opened access2007 and opened the database from 2002. Did not import. The data appeared to be correct for the several years.

Does anyone have any idea why data from a table which has several thousand records would duplicate itself at random records.

I hope this description of what I did makes sense. It is a complicated database with different queries and tables to be updated and modified yearly.

I am guessing 2002 databse is corrupt if it will not open. Did you try a compact and repair with the native version of Access?

If you have not, remember to backup first and if you do not have an earlier version of Access or it will not repair, find the Jetcomp.exe utility (MS Download) and try that... It has been a while since I have had to find it, so good luck. I think it is part of bundled download.

Maybe I am missing something here, but do not see the problem. It appears that it opens fine in 2007, according to the above. So what is the issue?
