What can I do to stop all the ad windows that are opened on my computer unbeknownst to me until I go to shut down. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 open windows of ads. I have tried: but with no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Easiest option would be some sort of adbuster program that closes them as soon as they open. Most are configurable and learn as they go along. Do a Google search or try Pow! from AnalogX, I use it and it's free

There is also Popup Killer, you can download it from zdnet and cnet. Its free as well. It might close some windows you want open or even miss some you want closed but all it takes is a right click on the icon in the systray and you can either add or exclude.
