My new system at work runs Windows XP Pro SP1. On my old system (Win2K) I could go to the command prompt and run ftp manually - something I do quite often to check out sites, etc. before scripting the connections. However, on this new box, any attempt to run ftp from the command prompt results in an error message "ftp is not a recognized command ... ". Note that WS_FTP Pro works just fine on this same machine.
I've checked 'Internet Options/Advanced' and played with the passive ftp checkbox - doesn't seem to make any difference.
If it was just that I wasn't able to ftp through our multilayered security/firewall I'd understand - but I can't ftp to servers within the firewall either unless I use WS_FTP Pro.
Thoughts/comments appreciated - my desktop support folks are as puzzled as I am.
Tnx.
