Was wondering if any one has used Unified messaging in Exchange 2007 and UMS togeather?

the document on setting this up ( Ipoffice Voicemail Pro Instilation PDF) is extremely vauge as to what should work etc.
and what all should work, I should be able to call and get messages? right? if we forward the message to the email will this not prevent me from getting messages...

anyway right now I can receive voicemail in my email
I can see the Voicemail in my Outlook and play it with the player
but the light is not lit and I cant get the message from the phone... if anyone has any info as to what integration things I need to look at

the document seems to be missing something in the UMS section...

Sounds like you do not have the proper email address specified for the user. You must have the primary (usually referred to as the Reply to address.

In EMC click on Recipient Configuration>User>Properties>E-Mail Addresses and under the SMTP section you must use the email address that is in bold.

Next try setting the service that the VM service uses with Full Access permission to the user's mailbox.
Recipient configuration>User>Manage Full Access Permission>[+Add] and add the VM services account then select [Manage].

Insure that you are using Outlook 2007 as your client on the VM server and that you have selected MAPI not SMTP.

Insure that you have selected UMS and Forward for the user on the Voicemail and again make sure you use the "reply to" address here.

With this all setup I have message lamp on the phone and email in Exchange. I can listen to the message in Outlook or on my iPhone via Active Sync and it turns off the lamp and the reverse if I use Visual VM or TUI to listen on the phone.

ok this is odddd

I added the user ( IMS ) to be in control of my mail box..
checked - nothing changed
checked my email address for the primary
there was a case difference only, I changed that in the IPO
checked = still no work
double checked the imap settings
fiddled a bit ( deleting and redoing the imap settings)
checked = nothing

restarted services and not it is working a treat ...

however I dont know what exactly fixed it ..

Thanks for the Help

one other Question now

what all should UMS get me?

I know:
when I get voicemail I get email and the Light
I can hear my email
I can hear my voicemail

but on the outlook side
should I be able to "play this on phone" ?
or should an email light my light?

thanks again
Dave

Please can you confirm

IMS or UMS

You have mentioned both and they are different things.

And IMS isn't supported (and may not work) with Exchange2007

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

the user is IMS because of already being arround since the ims days....

this is a NEW install of UMS

Thanks
Dave

Did you read the tech bulletin belonging to 5.0.8 ?

ok so in my defense
the information on UMS in the tech bulleten is as vauge as every other bit of documentation for ipoffice.
(in fact most is copy > pasted in to the install manual)
I understand that we dont want manuals that list what a product wont do, however a consise list of what it will do would be nice,

things like
"• MS Exchange 2007 support
• Voicemail message delivery to Exchange 2007 for message access and playback by email client
• Voicemail message retrieval and playback from Exchange 2007 via the TUI
• MWI synchronization
• Outlook 2007 – TUI to playback messages"

are vauge to me with no indepth conversation anywere but here....
MWI synchronization => is this just VOICEmail? will email light my light... maybee that is a silly question

but how about the last bit outlook 2007 TUI to playback messages.... if this means the "play on phone" I cant get that to work and am not completely postive how this is set up, if I need to configure TAPI to control the phone?
or is it all handled buy the Exchnage server? if so how does the exchange server know where the IPoffice "is" with the setup that the document gives ( you never add a PBX to Exchange...)

I fully admit that we are playing with things completely new to me, I just need to figure it out before our salesman thinks that it can slice dice and puree, and everyone should have atleast 30 UMS licenses.... but I digress

I have it working of sorts right now I just am trying to clerify what "working" is.

If you have it working can you click on the "play on phone" and listen to the voicemail via the phone set?
that is the most basic of questions that I have...

THanks for all help guys.

Dave

Thats unfair i think. you're frustrated because you don't understand it, that doesn't make the docs bad.

See what my brain does when it's not thinking about phones.

i will give you the point that I am frustrated,

and to a point that I dont understand exactly what needs to be done.

however, in the US locale many of the items in the ipoffice documentation have ,over the years working with this system, dont work as described. We have found try it Avaya's way, then test it
then tweak it because the docs are wrong.
One instance I remember was a class their trainning manuals were wrong, the instructor had to rewright the advanced aps install manual on the fly while we were taking a class, ( once you get to step 5 stop turn to page 15 do set 23 then go back to step 6 then reboot then ....)

so yes I am frustrated, however, I still dont know what the intention of avaya for ums interoperability is,
and many of the people that frequent this board seem to be privy to insider inforamation that we mere mortal business partners dont seem to have a source to,( or i am to febel minded to understand)

I am not picking on anyone individually incase an AVAYA document writer is on here, I dont mean to be "unfair" I just have dealt with half-fast :) documentation with this system for years - I love the system
I dont want any bad dissions regarding the nortel aquisition to happen, as my livley hood kind of depends on this system....

so all of that said, I was just trying to get a clerification on one thing at this point,

should the play on phone option in Outlook work with the setup?

if not is there a way to make it work?

thanks for all of the help from this forum and I never intend to be an A$$ it just come natural :)

Dave

never mind the "should it work" question

reading more on the outlook side, I now understand more what it is doing.

It is hard to stay abreast of every bit of the information that we need to install all of the new aplications for this system, as well as the ineroperability with microsofts software, while installing systems, and doing service work.
we cant all know the ins and outs of Exchange 2007/outlook 2007 along with all of the new aplications for ipoffice.
with out some snags from time to time.

I apreaceate the help that comes from this board.
