I need to telnet into a Medpro board that has a FW vintage less than 22 so I can upgrade it to 46, and then to 93. Problem is, I cannot ping it on my network. The link, receive, and 100mb leds are lit on the card, and all looks normal. I can download firmware from a C-Lan to a Medpro, but can't get a direct connection.

The only thing I can think of that is stopping this is the fact that I have not installed the 100MB backplane adapter on the Definity cabinet yet, so it may not be true 100Mb.

Could this fact alone cause me to not connect, or even ping it?

I may not be able to fix it, but I certainly can't break it any further- Jay

What version is the switch? I believe that prior to V10 only 10MBs half-duplex was supported.

It's a G3 R11.

If you do a 'get ethernet xxxxx' it should tell you the speed and duplex settings.

How does this pack get set up in the switch? I have the node name, and it has it's own ip addy, but I may be missing something.

you upgrade firmware on the medpro via the clan board and not direct to the medpro onceyou have uploaded the relevant firmware you need to send it from the clan into the medpro

antonyn- Yes, normally you send the file image to the C-Lan, and then dist. to the medpro, but if the current FW on the medpro is 21 and down, you have to download 5 files to it directly via Telnet, then FTP, as the c-lan method was not supported in FW21 and down. Once I bring it up to FW46, then I can use the C-Lan method. This is the reason I need to have a direct connection, because the FW on these cards is 14 and 21...

I picked up the 100mb adapter to change on the backplane of the switch so I can get a true 100meg connection. I'm going to see if this makes a difference or not. It's strange that I have the IP addy assigned to the medpro, and in our network it's a static address assigned to that card, and the hub that the cat5 cable is connected to shows connectivity, and the card shows activity- yet I can't ping this thing for the life of me. I have to be overlooking something.

Round 2 today.. :)

Can anyone post a pic or describe the settings needed to make the data module for this circuit pack? I think I'm missing that.
