I know 2000 backup can't be this difficult!! Here is what I'm doing:

1. Incremental backup Mon - Thurs
2. Full Backup Friday.

I have gone through computer management and prepared all the tapes and labeled. On Monday, I put in a new tape and the incremental runs fine, however, the next night I get the error message "The operation was not performed because no unused media was available." What am I doing wrong and why is it not seeing the tape as usable, better yet, how do I prepare the tape for incremental. I can prepare the tape each day and have the backup run successful, however, it kind of defeats the purpose of a scheduled backup system. I'm using Win2k server service pack 2 on a dell poweredge 2300 with a dds3 drive. Any one have any suggestions or links to microsoft on how to properly schedule backups that will actually run???

Thanks,
Ryan

Did you setup a new job with the same new name as your old job?

Ryan,

Try adding a /UM option to the end of the command line that starts your backup.

Windows 2000 backup.

I want to do a restore from a tape. The tape I have is from a remote office and I'm restoring to a different Server.

But how to I get the tape from the Unrecognised media pool?

The tape seems to mount fine
