I have installed TAPI 2 & 3 onto a server so it can run an automated dialing system. Im using "dialer" on windows 7 x64. The TAPI software is setup with the correct IP address username and password and is set to 3rd party (no WAV or ACD needed). Avaya is an option in phone and modems in control panel but when I launch dialer I get the message "phone dialer was unable to find a phone or modem..........." I know this should work as we already have the system on another PC in our office which is due to be replaced (this is why im building a new one) I have searched the internet but nothing seems to work. I have a log file which I will copy below. Any help would be great!

Is it disabled in device manager or in use by another service? This is like something you'd see when trying to open a com port when you already have a connection open.

A gnome will come to cut you.

Its not disabled in device manager and I did have another PC with TAPI on it running but I have turned it off a few times already as I thought that might be the problem (I mean I turned the whole PC off for a day and did multiple restarts on the new build - the one im having problems with)

Remove TAPI and install TAPI2 only.
Reboot when asked and test with dialer.exe
If this gives errors then try again all over from the start.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You can't install both TAPI2 and TAPI3, use one of them, you only need to use the TAPI3 driver if your application uses TAPI3 functions which isn't that common so as tlpeter said TAPI2 is the way to go.

"Trying is the first step to failure..." - Homer

I tried that already (been having this problem for over a week) Also tried turning firewall off and adding the ports TAPI uses to exceptions. Also added 192.168.1.200 as a whole exception too.

You said you have entered to correct username and password in the TAPI settings and set it to 3rd party.

If you use 3rd party you only need to enter the system password (usually "password" if not changed) in the TAPI settings.
You also need the CTI-Link Pro license in IP Office to use 3rd party.

"Trying is the first step to failure..." - Homer

I had been facing the same problem as yours for about 1 month and I didn't find no solution,

but finally it worked for me...

Go into the security settings and redefine the password unsecured interfaces system...

check if the TAPI interface option is checked.

good luck!

janni78 - during install it asks for an ext number and password but once installed it only asks for a password.
Guilherme1000 - will give that a go now and let you know.

Extn and password is used for 1st party TAPI, you can only control the specified extension. (Usually no password is set for the User in IP Office)
This does not require a license.

Under Control Panel -> Phone and Modems you can change the TAPI settings to 3rd Party so you can control any extension in the PBX. This requires only the system password and a CTI-Link Pro license in the IP Office.

Double check your TAPI settings in the Control Panel which ever mode you're going to use, sometimes it doesn't save the PBX password in the settings.

Well I clicked on security then booted me out and now when I try login it says login failed cause (locked - password) might just leave it a day or 10 before I try again but any tips are welcome.

You can login to security setting either with username 'security' or 'Administrator'. I don't they are both locked.

15/07 14:39:54 : TapiSession::Main() got res = -1, Calling SetAuthenticated( False );
15/07 14:39:54 : Set authenticated=0
As said before you have to set TAPI to 3rd Party mode, enter the IPO system password in TAPI config (that has been changed with 9.0.3 - in earlier releases every password had been accepted) and install the needed CTI Link Pro license in IPO.
