I am trying to add my messaging system(Aura 6.3) to System Manager(Aura 6.3) for managing subscribers, but I cannot get the sync to work.

When I view the log in Scheduler, the following appears:

"LDAP: error code 48 - Inappropriate Authentication"

Not sure what I am missing. Was hoping to resolve without having to involve Avaya. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Look in "inventory" and how you connect to AAM, check against AAM's System Administration page. can be ldap/389 or secure ldap/636. Make sure AAM is allowing the one SMGR's trying, or leave it wide open unencrypted 389 and just focus on that

You need to create a "trusted server" in AAM with SMGR's IP. It's not intuitive, but the literal "trusted server name" is the "user name" SMGR must have in it's inventory to connect to AAM. So, were you to build a trusted server of name mike with IP 2.2.2.2 and password MIKE, then only a SMGR with IP 2.2.2.2 could have an AAM in its inventory and connect with user/pass mike/MIKE

That you're at least getting a message back from AAM - inappropriate authentication - would lead me to guess that ldap/389 is open and listening, but not allowed to be used to connect to the AAM LDAP.

And, is it a new AAM? Have you changed the LDAP password for the first time?

Kyle, thanks for the help. Your post was spot-on. Have a star!
