Please feel free to browse the website where you can find the SunFire V40z Server described as using AMD Opteron CPUs (64 bit for Solaris).
In the strict sense of the question it is AMD Opteron based, but I guess you are asking to find out which Sun variety of software to select, in which case it I think it is "Intel" based.

I hope that helps.

hi ken thanks for reply...

we currently have a 9.2.0.1 enterprise edd oracle db on solaris v880 sparc server.

I guess we would need to imp/exp if we were to move database on to this box because it is a different platform?

Sy, sorry I can't give you a definitive answer on the sparc/intel/AMD/Oracle question, but my guess would be that import/export might be the way to go. The question which nags, however, is why if you created a skeleton database and then copied all datafiles etc over from the original, it wouldn't work. Someone else will hopefully be able to tell us whether it would or wouldn't work. After all, we're only really creating a clone aren't we?

Sorry - no idea about the e-business stuff.

My gut instincts tell me you're not too happy with this change of direction/platform?

yes you are right not too happy.. but hey thats life i guess.

thanks alot for your help... but im not sure a datafile refresh would work due to different platform. But i guess we could always try and if it doesnt work go with skeleton then imp/exp.

I have found that 9x is not supported on solaris 86x we need to go to 10g. what a shame!
