Hello,
I just purchased a Sams Teach Yourself MS SQL Server 2005 Express Book. It came with a CD for the VB Express and SQL Server Express. I put the CD in the tray and began the setup. I asked that everything be installed from the CD (at least I think I did).
The install seemed to go OK, but I cannot figure out how to launch the Management Studio. I can get into the VB and can also launch the SQL Server Configuration Manager, but not the Studio.
During the setup, I was NOT asked to supply a login name. The Feature Selection dialog box in the book did not appear during the setup, there was no screen related to Disk Cost, no asking if I wanted Windows Authentication or mixed, and other items.
The book says that there is a separate install program for the Mgmnt Studio, but when I place the CD in the tray, the screen basically asks if I want to remove or reinstall VB Express. There is not a word about the Mgmnt Studio.
How do I get this installed?
Thanks.
