Trying to convert our analog conf. phones to IP. I hook up the IP conf. phone, it gets an IP, has a dial tone but I don't know how to assing an extension to it. Or when I dial out it just hangs, and to get it working again I need to reboot it.

I was a little hasty when making my original post. Has anyone configured one of these to work with an IP Office system? If so what do I need to do? I am completely lost.

Ok, as long as the polycom unit is not providing a false dial tone.
Open call status and go off hook with the unit. See what appears when you do go off hook. If nothing then we can assume the unit is giving its own dial tone.
If it comes up on call status my guess is it will say no user.

Use this as a start ppoint and let us know how you get on.

When I try to make a call nothing happens on my call status screen, so it appears it is giving its own dialtone.

It finds my IP Office switch but doesnt seem to do anything else. I moved the sip.ld and the 000000000.cfg file onto the server to download to the phone.

Am I missing something here? I get an IP via DHCP, I can ping the phone, its just being registered on my IP office.

EDIT: Not reaching my IP Office. I have a million other 5610 IP phones that work without fail, just this polycom conference phones are giving me a headache.

Thanks for your help.

Trouble could be due to the fact that the Soundstation IP4000 is a SIP device and the IP Office does not support SIP station-level devices at this time...

Well that would explain it then. lol

So to get a conference phone with my ip office I need to buy an Avaya branded one? Like the 4690 works with IP Office?

TIA

The 4690 is not officially supported by IP Office, although some folks sell it as such. You may be able to get an H323 based IP speakerphone to work with IP Office - especially with IP station license.

How come the difficulty in finding a compatible IP speaker phone? Any idea?
