smtp messages not allowed by ISP

I have not been able to get Voicemail to E-Mail to work using S.B.C. or At&t Internet services(receiving error code 7 and 27 using dbgveiw). They do not accept my smtp messages sent to them via voice mail client. Has anyone out there have gotten this to work without having your own Domain? Just a simple voicemail to e-mail setup. If someone leaves me a voicemail message, voice mail client will send me a copy of the message to my email address.

Install your own smtp server on the voicemail machine.

The Email account used by the VMPro has to be a Valid for your ISP otherwise they will block it to prevent Spam

In control plannel select VM pro & make sure that it is set to a valid e-mail address ( you may also need to set username & passsword depending on your ISP)

Is this an IMS application? Or are we talking about the poor mans version? I'm trying to set this up myself and can't seem to get this to work. I'm not using an ISP tho. This application has a local exchange server.

I thought the poor mans version only needed to be administered from the vmpro client admin/properties and not thru the control pannel.

You have to make adjustment in both the vmpro client app and the control panel app and manager in order to get smtp to work.

Does outlook need to be running on the machine, does it matter if the email account is not the same as the windows account that vmpro is running?

Poor mans way of voicemail to email. No IMS. just a plain computer XP Pro and an s.b.c. email address.
