Hi

Just thought I would share an issue we had this afternoon, where on the back of a customers voicemail server going down all but one user were barred on outbound SIP calls and inbound SIP calls were giving busy tone and monitor reporting "busy here".

After hours of diagnostics today (and a previous site visit some weeks ago where we rebuilt the whole system because of the same issue) it turns out that it was the fact the all users apart from the one working were set to mandatory call recording. As the voicemail server was down it for some reason caused all SIP calls to fail! Not sure where the logic is in that and wonder if it is a bug?

Feeling relieved to have got to the bottom of that one and hope this saves someone else a few hours!!

What version?
Call recording should never stop calls from being presented.
This sounds like a bug.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Mandatory means mandatory, as in it must be recorded or the call is not allowed. If you don't want this that is what the "On" setting is for as in record all calls but if it's not possible still allow the call to go ahead :-)

I missed the part mandatory and probably because i never even used it.
On is enough for most i guess.

Well yeah, that kinda makes sense but as tlpeter says ability to record shouldn't cause such an extreme effect as cause calls to fail. I'm sure this isn't the case on ISDN?!

I didn't know that was how it is and you're the first I've spoken to who did :)

Might help someone out ;)

liquidshokk, change it from Mandatory to On.

Code:
Configuration Settings

· Record Outbound: Default = None
Select whether automatic recording of outgoing calls is enabled. The Auto Record Calls option sets whether just external calls or external and internal calls are included. Options for recording are:

· None: Do not automatically record calls.

· On: Record the call if possible. If not possible to record, allow the call to continue.

[COLOR=#CC0000]· Mandatory: Record the call if possible. If not possible to record, block the call and return busy tone. [/color]

· Percentages of calls: Record a selected percentages of the calls.

· Record Time Profile: Default = <None> (Any time)
Used to select a time profile during which automatic call recording of outgoing calls is applied. If no profile is selected, automatic recording of outgoing calls is active at all times.

There would be no point in having the Mandatory setting if it allowed the call to go through anyway, as then it would simply be acting like the On setting, that's why both options exist...as they are different :-)

So now we have both incoming and outgoing mentioned :-)
