Anyone know what kind of backup tapes the 9006 uses? I found a Sony DG60p online, a 4mm 60 meter tape. It sppears that would work. I've heard 90 meter will as well. Tried a 4mm DAT with 40Gig capacity - wasn't compatible.

I prefer the DDS60M 4mm DAT tapes because the tape material gets thinner the longer you get the tapes, but they are getting harder to find so I have been getting the Sony DG90P tapes the last couple of years. It is also important to run the cleaning tape thru the drive AT LEAST every other month because those tape drives are notorious for getting flaky if they get a little dirty. For those I have been using the Maxell HS-4/CL cleaning tapes.

My tech tells me it's not necessary because the first thng the backup routine does is format the tape, but I have been in the habit of formatting my new tapes the first time I stick them in. That is something like sta-tinit, then ":DT:BACKUP/120210" for the name and then say Y for reformat or whatever the remaining question is.

I buy my tapes from CDW usually, and buy them in boxes of 10 for a cheaper price.
