Hello,

I recently upgraded my IPO 406v2 to firmware version 5.0(15) from 5.0(8) and suddenly one of my short codes stopped working.
I had this sc 83N, so I could dial 83N and it would work. Now I must dial 83N# for it to work.

Did I miss something during the upgrade?

A ; hasn't snuck in there has it? So instead of 83N it's now 83N; ? If not what is your dial delay timer and count set at? Are there any other similiar shortcodes? You can watch the call in SSA and see what shortcode it is actually matching :)

@amriddle01,

That was it! Looks like the upgrade added that ";".

Cool, glad you're sorted :)

@amriddle01, looks like I spoke too soon!
Once I cleared the ; from the short codes, now any attempt to dial past 83 gives me INCOMPATIBLE. If I return the ;, then I can still dial 83N#

From your previous question, here is what is on the system:

Dial Delay Time = 1sec
Dial Delay Count = 4

I don't have any other similar short codes.

Leave the ; in then and move the dial delay count down to 0 :)

Why remove the ; when it works ???
You probably need the ; to geet it working

Because if you have the ; in and have a dial delay count higher than 0 you need to press # and if you remove the # it works. As I didn't know if the upgrade had added the ; or increased the dial delay count up form 0 I went for the ; thing first :)

@tlpeter - I removed it because it was never there before the upgrade to 5.0(15) and dialing 83N never required to be terminated with a #

@amriddle01 - changing the dial delay count to 0 and leaving the ; in place did not help. It gave INCOMPATIBLE after I dial a few numbers.

The ; means unblock dialing
So then you first dial all digits and then send it to the outside world

Now you probably are not quick enough so check what your dial count and delay timers are

Indeed, increase the dial delay timer up :)

If you know how many digits are going to be dialed after 83, replace the N with the correct number of Xs. When you've dialed the correct quantity of digits, it will go.

Hello everyone,

I have tried all the suggestions but none seem to solve the problem. Increasing the dial delay timer is causing an annoyance to the receptionist and everyone else.. They say the phone is "hanging":)

I cannot replace N with the correct number of Xs as that number is arbitrary. We use 83N to dial numbers in the UK and internationally. We break out of the UK using 00, so I can dial 8300(America, etc).

Should I just blame Avaya for this, as it's something that came with 5.0(15)?? I did not have these ; with 5.0(8).

out of interest why 83N?

I don't think avaya can be blamed really, it's the first time i've ever heard of this and run 5.0(15) on plenty of sites.

See what my brain does when it's not thinking about phones.

So your only solution is using a ;
Your argument that is was not necessery is totaly irrelevant !

Use it and be happy :)

I'd use 83N to pass the numbers through to a specific ARS table.

You can then use a dial delay count that applies to that to register the rest of the digits

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

It does and it works for him but he removed it because it was not there before the upgrade :)

@TomMills - My short code is actually 8N. I can do 81N..8nN - all being routed differently. I just picked on 83N, but the problem affects all of them.

@mattKnight -- Once I get to attend an Avaya training, I will be able to try that, if not answer you:)

Now, the only problem I have is not myself, but the few users who have access to the 8N sc. All of a sudden I'll be telling them that they have to add a # at the end of the dial string... and they'll ask me why, when before they did not have to? I can of course fake a technical explanation to justify that, but I hate doing such a thing, especially because this is only happening on one switch. The others are all working without the ";" in the sc and no need for # at the end of the number. It's only this 406v2 running 5.0(15).

What I'd like is to just be able to dial without adding the # at the end.

Then you need to compare them and see what the differences are
there must be something doing it
