Hi all,

Anyone seen this message before? I am connected via RDP into the Citrix server, as the local machine administrator, and trying to shadow a user's Citrix session. Whenever I try and connect to their session, it gets as far as prompting the user that someone is trying to connect, but then immediately gives the message 'Shadow failed. Error code 6. Error 6 - The handle is invalid'

Thing is, this was working fine half an hour ago, it was only when the VIP's arrived for their visit and I went to show them shadowing that this happened.

I've not been able to find anything for error code 6 (found something for 5 though)

The environment is XP Desktops and Windows 2003 Server with Presentation Server 3.0 installed.

As I said, this was working perfectly earlier on, and I can't think what I have changed which would mean it no longer works. if anyone knows what error code 6 is, I'd be very grateful to hear from you!!

many thanks for any help.

Two things I have found make shadowing embarasing when showing VIP's.

Screen resolution yours must be equal or greater to theirs.
You must have a CTX client installed where you shadow from.

The handle thing suggests either client name or user is giving a problem, but I cannot think what.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Scott,

turned out to be the screen resolution. They have these fancy monitors which you can twist from horizontal to vertical, and, in doing that, it must have reset the resolution to higher than when we'd connected to the same machine earlier on; changing the resolution got it working fine. I'd just not seen the incredibly helpful error code 6 before!

thanks again
