I am trying to set up a Dialogic Diva USB ISDN modem on a windows XP pro PC here in the UK so that I can remotely manage client's Avaya IP Office.
The software and drivers install OK but when I do a line test I get:
Layer 1 error: check cable/NT

The cable is OK and our IP Office works OK on our ISDN2 connection

The Diva ISDN monitor tool says that both b channels are down when doing a line test

Does anyone know if there are any specific settings that I need to get this working?

If any further information is needed to assist me with this please ask

Do you use a cable to the NT or to the IPO?

Do you use a terminating resistor?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

This are exact modems we use through our So8 unit on an IP500 and a 412 before that.

Simple plug and play. With or without a resistor!!!

they dont work without the adaptors jamie. when you turn a BRI port into an SO port you still need to either buy the Avaya adaptor for around a million pounds or make your own the information is in the KB somewhere.

btw, I use the same modem to dial out to NEC and Alcatels, but use the IPO itself to dial other IPOs its a lot easier.

just set your PC to the IPO as your default gateway, set your IPO default route to your router, then set up all your customer routes and services in the IPO. saves having to dial up all the time. just start a ping up and away you go.

Problem occurs if you have multiple customers with the same IP on the IPO, I buy resistors for 10p each and simply krone two onto a cat5 module reverse the relevant pair and you are done :)

Hi,
we have the cable from the modem plugged into the ISDN2 line box

I Use a similar setup as HSM it means I can use system monitor to help diagnose connection issues if it fails.
