Is there a way to set the outgoing caller-id on an entire PRI/ISDN trunk no matter what extension the call is placed from?

Yes, Either have the LEC send the Caller ID or set it under isdn pub numb or change your trunk group to send name/number to 'n'

I can give you more detail when I am in front of my ASA :) but that gives you some good clues

In the future everything will work...

Did you change isdn public-unkown-numbering?

I have set isdn pub before for specific stations, but never for an entire trunk.

When you change isdn pub, you specify the station length, the station number, the trunk, and the number that you want sent.

If I leave station blank it gripes at me.

For example, when extension 500 makes a call and it goes out my local trunk and it appears as 123-123-1234 thats fine b/c its my local trunk and I have it set at the lec. However when extension 500 makes a l/d call and it goes out my dedicated l/d trunk I would like to have the flexibility of changing what is getting sent e.g. 123-123-1234 or 800-123-1234. And I would like to make the change globally rather than have to configure it for each station.

You isdn pub numb should look like this then with the trunk group blank
Total Total
Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len
3 5 1231231234 10

In the future everything will work...

I want to set the caller-id for a specific trunk.

If you want to set it for a specific trunk group, just populate the trunk group field with that trunk group number. So if I wanted only trunk group 7 to do this:

Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len
3 5 7 1231231234 10

I don't thinks this solution would apply for your situation, but another way to change is on the trunk group form itself. On the first page, toward the bottom, is a field called Incoming Calling Number - Delete:____ Insert:____ Format:_____

I have a trunk group to my voicemail system and I wanted all outgoing calls from voicemail (paging, call transfer, etc.) to show the pilot number of our voicemail system. An outgoing call from voicemail is an incoming call to the trunk group, so this is where I defined that number.

Since it sounds like you have an outbound call from the trunk group's perspecitve, change pub is the right spot to change.

Is there a way to also define the outgoing name? Because I notice when I do a list trace station it shows my newly modified Cnumber, but then it says No-Cname.
