What version? If you open up an old config File>Offline>Open File you can try using this:

Kyle Holladay
ACA-I, ACA Call Center, ACS-I, ACS-M, TIA-CTP, MCP/MCTS Exchange 2007
ACE Implement: IP Office

"If it worked the way it should you wouldn't need me

Where in this program do i drop the config...and which config IPO or security?

If you're using 4.1 and cant remember your user name and password to get in to the security settings you can default them. Go to File>Advanced> Erase security settings. This will restore the security settings back to default. It will not do anything to the configuration of the system.

If you are using a lower version then 4.1 you would need to default the security settings via the DTE port.

i tried that just now it asked for
User name and password

i tried defaults ... no good

I believe its asking you for the current security name and password on order to perform the reset, but try Administrator, Administrator just for kicks and giggles. I doubt it will work though.

The only other way to reset it would be through the DTE, the AT command is AT-SECURITYRESETALL, you will be prompted for the MAC address of the switch so make sure you have it written down first

Yea no good :(

soo DTE hypeterminal huh?

at the command .. AT-SECURITYRESETALL

Yep, look slike you'll have to DTE it.

At the AT command enter AT-SECURITYRESETALL

It shoudl prompt you for the MAC address and then it will repsond OK.

The you can go in with security and securitypwd.

It all depends, if you need to change it from the default then by all meeans right it down somewhere. I usually keep the security name and password as default. This is not something a customer usually goes into to make changes in so they dont need to know the name and password.

Otherwise, if you need to allow others to access it, you can allow members of a security rights group access to the security settings with their own password, this way you will always have the default one without them knowing if you ever need to go in and change something behind them.

i will reset this thanks for the late nite reply....i am gogin to give the customer a login that is restricted for IP manager this is done in the security settings too yes?

Yes, in the general settings, uncheck the Unique Security Administrator option.

Then in the Rights Groups select the group you want, and in the security administration tab is where you allow them the right to make changes to securty features. I would not allow them the right to reset security changes. This way you are the only one who can do that and only one who knows about it.
