You guys have been great so far. . Here's another one for you. I am attempting to set up my second SCN site and I am getting an error that says "Attempt to use a feature for which no licence is installed. - type: Advanced Community Networking.

I just want regular SCN.

Did I mis-click something?
This is connecting to a site that already has an SCN relationship with a third site. Am I hitting some kind of limitation?

Thanks in advance.

And the latest news on this venture. The upgrade to R5 fried a DS16 expansion module. Sometimes I curse these software based systems. A merlin legend never had these problems.

Anyone know how to recover a failed software install on a DS16?

There is a FAQ made by intrigrant.
Follow it and you will be good

To what degree is it fried, and what happened at what stage?

IT finished and rebooted. Then, solid red light. Bye Bye expansion module.

It should be recoverable, a software upgrade is unlikely to have caused any physical damage...unless it was ready to go anyway and the upgrade was the last straw :)

Can I get the link to that FAQ? Does this involve the DTE console cable?

Thanks, this problem rattles my confidence in doing future upgrades considering my sites are all over the country. Has anyone else had this issue.

Ope never when I didn't want to.
A couple of times on purpose and recovered.

We have sites all over the country too (UK) but we always do local upgrades as oppose to remote stuff via Logemin etc for reasons such as this...you never know what could happen, that's why we charge for maintenance.. and upgrades if they are customer requested :)

I am assuming it's better to do upgrades individually rather than at the same time.

Could the base unit choose to reboot during the expansion modules upgrade, interrupting it?

I always upgrade together, unless the expansions need stepping through 3.2.999 loader of course, but after that's done I go to the functioning software level all together :)

In conclusion, finally upgraded all systems. The configuration carried but still did not work. I removed the trunk lines and re-added them. Everything came up and was fine.

My assumption, a potential compatability bug between the R5 manager and the 4.2 software. I think confuguration with a matching version of the manager is probably the safest bet in the future, thanks for all the input.
