Have anyone experience with this error:

RSM Database cannot be backed up because the Removable Storage service is not running.

I am using Veritas B/U exec version 8.6 on Windows server 2003. Once it stopped, I going to Removable storage properties restart the service, but its keep failing everyday.

Thanks.

This error is caused by having the junction points option checked in BE.

Solution
Go to Job Definitions
Under the Windows 2000 tab (in 8.6) uncheck "Backup Files and Directories by Following Junction Points".

This will keep you from backing up data via drive mapping and will avoid the error with OFO.

I read a Veritas Backup Exec articule that suggested disabling the Removable Storage Service. That was my setup with 8.6 and also with 9.1 running on Windows 2003 ENT server. I haven't had any issue with it disabled.
