Has anyone used a 258A adapter to connect to the RJ21, then come off port 6 of the 258A with a straight through CAT-5 cable to the MM710? (or would I need a cross-over?)

Trying to figure out the best method to get this T1 extended to the new MM710. It's currently is connected to a TN2464 in a Prologix, which we're replacing...

Thanks,

If you are connecting 2 AVAYA DS1 boards toegether, you need a T1 crossover cable, pins 1&2 to 4&5, and pins 4&5 to pins 1&2.

no idea about the adapter, but you can get the TN circuit pack pinout by googling. I would just take a LAN cable, cutoff 1 end and wire pins 1&2, and 4&5 up to the circuit on the RJ21X.

does not sound like you are connecting 2 DS1's together from 2 different switches, so just build a cable to the RJ21X

My challenge is the DMARC end - it's in a locked box... So I have the amphenol end I can get to (which is connected to the backplane of the prologix), and this is why I was thinking I could simply use the 258A...

Otherwise, I suppose I could cut the amphenol off, and crimp on an RJ45 connector? Or cut the amphenol off, connect 1,2,4,5 onto an RJ45 CAT5 jack, and come from there with a CAT5 cable into the MM710.

And just confirm the pin-out:
White/Blue goes to 1
Blue/White goes to 2
White/Orange goes to 4
Orange/White goes to 5

Other thoughts?

you should be able to pick that lock, it probably has all of 2 or maybe 3 pins :) Or call the Telco and ask them to unlock it.

There is likely an RJ45 jack in that Demarc box, just run a standard straight T1 cable from there to the MM710, that's the easiest thing to do.
