I have 2 Windows 2000 Dc’s. One is setup as the primary DNS, the other secondary DNS.
I recently rebuilt the DNS servers. After the rebuild I had the following error on my clients when trying to do an nslookup:
Can't find server name for address 10.10.10.105: Non-existent domain
I have since figured out that I needed to create a reverse lookup zone.
I created a zone: 10.10.10.in-addr.arpa and set the Dynamic Updates to “only secure updates”. I now have only PTR’s for the 10.10.10.0 subnet.
My question is this...If I have just a 10.10.0.0 network, do I have to create a reverse lookup for each subnet?
Example: 10.10.10.0
10.10.14.0
10.10.15.0
Any help would be appreciated as I am pretty "green" on DNS.
