I regularly backup data files to CD-R disks. They are not supposed to be rewriteable. I use 4 disks with the files to be backed up named "xxxxx".1, "xxxxx".2, 3 and 4. I find that if I use Roxio CD Creator 5.0 I can reuse the same disks over and over if I do not finalize the session when done. I have done this to disks over 10 times with no problems. Others have taken the backup data disks in order to use the data on their computers with no problems. I cannot do this with Sonic's Record Now. It saves time and $ not having to buy the rewriteable disks.

Howdy:

How much data are you backing up at a time?? Considering each cd is going to hold between 650 and 700 MEGS of info, that makes for alot of writing to the cd before it is full.. Sure that isn't all thats happening?? You are simply adding data to what is remaining on the cd..

Just check the remaining space with a before and after of the disk.. bets it is smaller after the next backup !!

Yes , Thats probably whats happening , in fact if you use Win Xps own inbuilt burner you can actually use the remaining portion of the CD R like a floppy and much quicker too.
