is there a way to restrict users from writing to c drive... or at least write anything new on there..... or possibly remap it so they think they are writing to c drive when in reality they are writing to network drive. we have a user who refuses to use our network server... i remmaped his my docs to a folder on our server... but he figured that out now he writes directly to c. i still would like the programs to use whatever resources etc it need from c... just dont want the users to be able to modify or add files.... hopefully my point is getting across on this one.

I may be wrong but if you modify his security settings for the c drive, restricting his write and modify permissions then he'd be forced to use the network drive as his only alternative.

Cheers

Thx to all who respond ;)

yeah security should do it, you could also set a local group policy which removes the C:\ and a autodirecter from My Docs to a network drive

how do you remove the c drive with local group policy?
