Reset translations without effecting licensing onG3csi R6

Hey all,

Thanks for all of your help so far with this project, I appreciate having access to this knowledge. I was wondering, is there a way for me to “reset” the config without losing any of the licensing in-place? I think there is an issue with the old translation but I want to wipe it like the system is new. Is this possible in R6? If not, I need a workaround for the card placements it’s expecting. I’ve tried a few resets cold I and II and I can run tests on all of the cards successfully. It also seems like the system is set to failover to cab B but this isn’t how I want to use it, I want to add integrations sometime like Audix or property management as well as play with legacy phones with neon MWI, adding trunks to the collectors network, etc.

This is really a hobbyist project. I’m an IT pro with 15+ years in all sorts of things from MSPs to ISPs, telecom is an interest of mine. I acquired this system to learn how to do this stuff as much as I can on my own and document it for others. Many of these configuration techniques and manuals aren’t freely available and few people have documented their journeys through learning. I’m always looking for people with first-hand experience to help with this project!

features are turned on prior to licensing using the services login "init" with command "change system-parameters customer"

I have over 50 years in the telecom business as a supply person, installation / repair, teaching, training, developing techs, engineers, customers and writing

Appreciate the continued input. I get that to some, digging into 25-year-old equipment might seem like an odd project—but for me, the real value is in the process. I’m not just trying to get it running; I’m trying to understand it, document it, and preserve it so that the history, design choices, and engineering decisions behind this kind of gear aren’t lost when the manuals fade and the last techs hang it up.

In my professional life, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside folks who reminded me a lot of you—sharp, experienced, and not shy about saying what works and what doesn’t. Sometimes they weren’t the easiest to approach, but they were often the people who left the biggest impact. When someone like that took the time to point me in the right direction, it stuck.

That’s why I’m here—learning, not just tinkering. I’m building a historically accurate lab environment and documenting it thoroughly, with the long-term goal of making it part of a public archive or museum-style project that captures how this technology really functioned in its prime.

I’ve had to work on legacy systems before where the institutional knowledge was already gone—where even the best hardware couldn’t save you because nobody remembered how it was meant to work. That’s not a situation I want to see repeated. If I can pass along even a small part of this knowledge to someone else down the road, then it’s worth every question I ask along the way.
