Hi,

Has anyone successfully established replication between a 2000 and 2005 database? If so, are there any tricks to getting this to work?

I realize this is a very general question, but the fact is, we haven't tried it yet and I'm just trying to get a feel for what to expect.

Thanks

I haven't done this yet, but I would advise having your 2000 box as the publisher and 2k5 as the subscriber simply because so much has changed in 2k5 that going the other direction might not be very compatible.

Run an upgrade advisor on your 2000 box just to see if there's anything specifically that might cause replication issues between the two versions.

I have a question on the same topic. We want to replicate only a few tables in a SQl2000 database (publisher) with a 2005 database (subscriber). Can I only replicate only specific tables or does it have to be the whole database?

yes, you can replicate specific tables - they're called "articles" - you specify them when you set up your replication
