Greetings. I am looking to replace my announcement board, as the current one is on its last leg. Can I save the announcements to the flash card, or will they only save to the board for the TN750C? Vintage is 9. If they only save to the board, will I then need to undo all the recordings and programming before I start the physical replacement?

Thank you in advance for assistance!

The procedure is very simple. It's a processor intensive procedure though, so do it in off hours. It's also long. (A couple of hours at least.) So bring coffee, and a magazine. Your announcements will be unavailable for a period of about 45-90 minutes while they're being restored.

First, save the announcements to your mass storage.

Then install the new board and configure a data-module on the 17th port.

After you have the new board in place, execute the

'change integ-annc-brd-loc' command.

All the programming (extensions, sample rates, labels, etc.) will move to the new board. The announcements will still be in the mass storage, and all of the annoucements on the new board will be blank for the moment.

Then you delete the data-module from the old board, remove the old board, and restore the announcements to the new board.

Be sure that you don't cross board types. (moving annoucements from a TN750b to a TN750c, for example, is not allowed.)

One last thing for you. Be sure to erase the new announcement board after you install it and before you restore your announcements to this board. The command is erase announcements bo xxxxx. Sometimes they have test messages on these boards and they need to be removed before you use them.

Thank you all for the guidance. Silly question: what is the command for saving to flash? When I type "save ann" and then F5 (help), I am unable to decipher what the next input should be.

The command would be:

save announcements from xxxxxxx removable-media

Put the board location of the announcement card you are saving is where the x's are above.

If you have a disk drive and removable-media, you can choose either destination for the announcements to be saved.

You would substitute 'disk' for 'removable-media' above.

If it fails, someone probably didn't add the announcement type data-module on this card when it was installed.

Just 'add data next' and create a data-module of type 'announcement' on the 17th port of this card to fix the situation.

Thanks so much for the explicit instructions! I will be switching the boards out tonight.

Peace,
