Hi,
I recently replaced a tape drive in an NT 4 SP6a server. New tape drive is installed and working great.
Problem is that the server is still trying to load some drivers or something for the old tape drive. I get an error message that a service failed to start on startup. Please check the event log. When I check the event log, I have an error that always references unable to load something for QIC117 (ie. my old tape drive).
I decided (after backing up my registry) to take out all the entries in the registry dealing with QIC117. However, it would not allow me to take some of them out. Said they were in use.
I saw in another post that there is not "Safe Mode" in Windows NT 4 server. The suggestion was to install a dual boot system ... then edit the first registry. This system is so small, I do not want to do that ... or spend that amount of time for a frivolous error.
Is there any way I can get this error to stop? Editing the registry a different way? Some other program to stop it drivers from loading?
Thanks.
Dale
