Had an odd request. We want to remove caller ID from showing up on support reps phones. We had a case where nobody answered because they didn't want to talk to that customer.

ideas on how to disable inbound caller ID for some of our phones?

realized more info is good. ipoffice 406. 5610SW phones. 3.1(48)

You could try to lose caller ID through vmpro. Don't know if it will work but trap the call by ID in incoming route then send to vmpro to transfer to group.

Spent so much time trying to fix it and now you want it broken.

they are going through vmpro already. I can't find anything in there to loose the ID. That would actually be a great way of doing it.

Forward the group call to a shortcode and let the shortcode dial the group

eg

*90
Feature DialExten

Code 555W

Where 555 is the group and W is the code for witheld

Give them a very cheap analog extension, uninstall PhoneManager.

You could try to use a "wild card" in the Directory

· ? Wild-card characters can be used at the right-hand end of the number string. For example:

· Name: Holmdel

· Number: 732555????
The number must be padded with question marks to the correct length; in this example local numbers are 10 digits long so 4 question marks are required. This displays Holmdel:1234 for a call from 7325551234.

Greetzzz....Bas

Won't the directory match only change the name - it will still display the CLI...

One answer is to turn off the CLIP on the lines...

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

But the truth is that once the agents get used to any new display as being the bad guy calling, they will revert back to not answering?

But if he makes the number like 1????????????? and 2????????????? 3??????????? ect...and a use a long names then the CLI will be displayed but they have to pick-up the call first before answerring.

Or if possible upgrade to 4.1+ and fill in the "tag" option use a long name.

I don't use wildcards in IPO very much. So if you say so.... But it seems like throwing out the baby with the bathwater for one phone number or for a couple of users. How about buying non display phones for the ones who are targeted. Or better yet just jamming a screwdriver through the existing display. O.K. that last one was a little overboard but this is a training issue.
