I have 5 computers on my domain, I want to remove all computers from the domain and also remove my domain from my server.

Are there any procedures I need to follow?

i would disjoin each machine prior to running dcpromo on the server. this should remove policy info, ect from the clients. you probably could just run dcpromo (only 1 server, yes) and that will remove active directory (and domain info) and you will be back to a member server.

Thanks for your reply

Yes its only one Server, whats the best way to disjoin?

Hi JoePalm,

As buddafish stated above, simply run DCPROMO to demote your Domain Controller back to a Member Server. (after you remove all of your PC's from the domain)

It works both ways,...running DCPROMO on a Member Server promotes it to a Domain Controller and running DCPROMO on a Domain Controller demotes it back to a Member Server.

to disjoin a pc, right click "my computer" ---> network identification tab --> properties --> you should see the domain name listed in the box. select the workgroup radio button, give it any name "testlab", ect.. and choose ok, ok, ok... and re-boot. the pc is no longer able to logon to the domain...

Thanks for the help, the removal of the workstations and Server from domain was sucessfull
