I submitted a previous post trying to get sound on my ibm thinkpad T60, I read a post where it said to restore defaults in bios.......did that and saved and now I can't even boot up. It mentions something about hardware changes, when I choose "boot from last known good config" I receive a 5 second text message about "drivers" then back to the same boot choice page. I figured I would reload XP but I get the message that their is no hard drive. Now what? Anyone have any ideas please.

Thanks

Have you tried to enter the Bios and set it to the Safe Default settings? Make sure you select the correct option in the Bios, sometimes there are a couple of similar sounding choices involving Safe Defaults and Safe Optimal Defaults. Try both if you have such a Bios. Whatever you choose make sure you exit AND save your settings correctly.

Alternatively if you are re-installing XP, it may require you to press F6 at the start of Setup to load any Mass Storage Drivers? These allow XP to see your Sata or Raid drives.

I don't have that choice. "Safe Default settings

fixed, the internet is a wonderful tool
thanks to all

Was it a Bios problem or something else? You don't really say what fixed it, but I'm glad you are back on the air.

I changed the drive to compatible in the bios settings. I had nothing lose.

Here is the detailed version of my fix.

Solution
Restore the setting Serial ATA (SATA) in the BIOS Setup Utility.

1. Start the BIOS Setup Utility menu.
2. Select Config.
3. Select Serial ATA (SATA).
4. Restore the setting to AHCI or Compatibility.
5. Restart your computer.
