I have a client with an R8 DEFINITY. The SAT terminal was acting strangely so we power cycled it. The terminal turns on, passes the tests, but beeps and does not show a login prompt.

We connected via ASA (via modem) and see two logins. Both are the same customer login but one is type MGR1 and the other is INADS. We only have a customer level login for this switch since it was originally ordered without MSP so we don't have reset or a lot of the good stuff.

It appears that there was a command running on the MGR1 terminal when we powered it off that did not stop. Anyone know a trick to kill the stuck login in hopes of getting back in via the SAT? This is a medical facility so a reboot is not a good option. I've considered a reset system 1. Would this clear it and keep the switch running?

Thanks in advance.

reset log in id? ? being the login id, this should work

if you do not have a reset then Avaya will have to do this for you, do this, type reset and then hit the help key f5, this will tell you if you have the permission to do this.

We only have a customer login which does not include the proper reset command.

request from Avaya for dadmin access as well as to have the log in reset, your only option that I know of

Command: reset system 1

This will kill the logins and you will be able to login again.

reset login-ID only works on systems where status logins shows an ID
This was not an option in g3v8

reset login-ID was new in g3v9
dadmin can do this only if Administer Permissions? y for the login.

Thanks Avayatier3, forgot that a system 1 reset would do that, 1Jumbo I still would request a dadmin level log in with admin rights for future use, would have to put in a request to Avaya for this.

You can also plug the SAT terminal into an EPN cabinet to get a login prompt.
