I'm trying to format text so that the first line of the paragraph is indented by e.g. 3mm (straightforward so far) but so that the first line of the text box itself is not indented.
I'm trying to get it to look like this post, in fact - standard newspaper format.
All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. (Using QX6.1)

So you want the first line to extend to the left beyond the rest of the body text?

In Format, enter the indent space you want (3mm) for Left Indent, then the same number as a negative for First Line (-3mm). There may be a better way if you want the first lines to hang into the margins, but this is how I would do it for a quick fix.

Sorry, not quite what I meant. Thanks for the input though.
I'm trying to get the first line of every paragraph to be indented - with the exception of the first line of the text box (which is indented automatically as it is the first line of a paragraph itself).
The first line of the text box should be aligned with the body of the text. I don't want any hanging over to the left.
Sorry my first post was confusing - I hope this is clearer.

Yeah, I think different paragraph styles is the way forward. Looking for a (nonexistent) even simpler way of doing it is just me being lazy really...
Thanks very much for your advice.
