I finally made it to the programming screen on the 1140e but no matter what i set it up as it keeps telling me "provisioning error" and then it goes back to starting DHCP. I have a new 1140e and it starts right up, i've tried to mirror the old one with the programming on the new one but the options are different, it doesn't give me a chance to assign a port 7000, S1 or S2, very few options are the same. Does the BCM 50 have to be a certain release or is the firmware on the old phone the problem???

After the large Nortel logo displays there will be a few seconds and then a beep tone followed by a small Nortel logo. At that point you swipe the 4 softkeys under the display from left to right (or you can press each one individually - but you only have a few seconds to complete the process).

From there you can edit the options you are talking about above by using the scroll pad and enter key in the middle of the phone. If you need more help let us know. We prefer to use port 4100. The firmware on the phone is not the problem. Be sure to hit the right-most softkey which is 'apply' after you have changed the settings.

I made it to where i edit the options but it doesn't give the opportunity to change the port, its not even on the menu. It's missing a lot of options that is on the new phone. Instead of S1 IP and S2 IP, it has DNS IP1 and DNS IP2. Also the apply and reset button is on the far left instead of right, dont know if that makes a difference or not. Sorry to be a pain but i'm at a lost. Thanks!

Look for a soft button option for auto? I think. You need to turn that off, you may have to scroll through the whole list of options and i believe you have to uncheck them so you can go back and do a manual config

Ahhh ... in order to change those settings you need to change DHCP to partial instead of full. Full will have those options grayed out (hence it will skip by those settings.
I just rebooted my 1140 at my desk to be certain :)
If you really want to get granular you can set DHCP to NO and then you can statically set IP/Mask/Gateway and other options. Yes, you are right that Apply/Reset is on the left. I meant my other right - haha

Ha Ha Ha, my brain is fried, nothing i try is working, the BCM is just not seeing the phone. No matter what i set the options to i still cant see the Port setting. I've erased and un-checked and rebooted and it still wont bring up an option to set the Port. Frazzled!

ratherbhntn - what firmware is running on the 1140E (should see at startup)?

gwebster - Firmware is 06A5C39D29, also the New phone that does work on my BCM has Firmware 0625C4L. I dont know but i was thinking that firmware release automatically looks for a certain port that can't be changed is why i cant change it maybe?? I dont know??? Thanks!

Hey guys, well finally i got it working! Problem was with the firmware and by the way getting the latest firmware downloaded almost killed me too! But anyway, with the new firmware i was able to set the port and it connected right up to the BCM. Thanks to all of you for your help!!

The 06A5C39D29 firmware was SIP which was what was causing you problems. The configuration options are completely different when running SIP firmware.
