How does one program a # into the speed dialer?

The same way you program a number - what kind of error message are you getting?
JDE

I am simply trying to program a # directly from the phone keypad. Note that while I am a code writer, I do not have access or tools to program the phone other than as a standard user using a keypad entry.

Here are the instructions for auto dialing on a G3si using a 6400 phone. Note that this feature must be set up by your administrator.

To Program your Personal List Numbers:

1. Get dial tone
2. Press *0
3. Press 1 for Personal List
4. Dial list item number (1-30)
5. Dial number to be programmed (up to 24 digits) followed by the # sign
6. Repeat steps 5-7 for additional items on the same list

To Call: Press #7 and dial item number

Is this what you were looking for ?

I suspect the *0 may different on other switches - it is on mine, *0 1 gets me NU tone. What FAC is *0?
JDE

Actually, I want to embed a # into the speed dialer ... for example, I want the speed dialer to be programmed with the following sequence: 1234#56#78.

Yes, but if we can find the setting that *0 activates on Jolagues's switch then (a) i can get it working on mine and (b) you can ask your pbx admin what the setting is on yours and then program it that way.
In theory.

I believe that from the phone you will be unable add the # in a dialing sequence. Pressing # tells the pbx that your are through with that entry. Your system administrator will have to enter it in from the terminal.

*0 is the FAC for program access code and roche is correct if pound is pressed from the station it tells the switch you are done. You will need to have your admin program this. José

Please let me know if this was helpful

Well, the administrator _is_ able to program a # into the speed dialer. Unfortunately, he is unwilling to do this for one person ... is afraid he would end up doing it for hundreds of people. If anyone figures out how a "non-administrator" can do this, I sure would like to hear about it!

Again, thanks to all who responded to my initial inquiry!

If the Admin is unwilling to help you the only thing I can think of is to break the number across two AD buttons IE...

AD button 1 = 12345
hit the pound sign
AD button 2 = 6789

Its wasteful but what can you do. Maybe you can get rid of the Admin and I will come work there and program the button for you. HA HA
