I am humbled by finding a need to ask this question; especially after being a veteran of Appple iie's, Dos, several windows ver's., etc. But, here goes:
I am attempting to rename a sub-directory in windows XP-Home edition. Typically, a right click will provide a dialog box to rename a 'folder'. With this particular sub-directory, there is no available option when 'properties' is launched. I went to a DOS prompt and tried to use the 'rename' command and that did not work. Finally, I went to a FAQ database to enquire about this odd ball situation. The database indicated that some sub-directories' names cannot be changed! This has got to be wrong since the sub-directory was created by me. Here's the path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Myname
Note also that there is also another sub-directory to Documents and settings, this being the default, 'All Users'.
All I'm trying to do is rename 'Myname' to something else. But, no luck. Please humble me by showering me with a simplistic solution. Thanks in advance for anyone out there who's not feeling a bit sadistic at the moment.
