Hello, I am trying to determine if it makes sense to replace a PRI card. We recently experienced an inbound call interuption that goes to our NTAK09BA PRI card. When I stat'd the card in LD 60 it was in a RED ALARM state. Disabling the loop (D-CH was disabled first) took a number of attempts. After which re-enabling the loop and the D-Ch did not resolve the problem. Our service provider could not tell me where the connection between Megalink and our switch was failing. I ultimately INI'd the PBX and everything reset itself. Can anyone tell me if I should replace the PRI card? It has been working fine for about 5 days now, but no telling if this will happen again. Thanks

Red alarm is a Telco problem.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

red alarm is local - so basically, anything from the customer side of the csu back to the backplane on your 11.

however, an extended yellow alarm (remote) can cause a red alarm on your system if the yellow alarm goes uncheck for an extended period of time.

by running lcnt on the loop in question and looking at the oos yellow counter, you can determine weather or not the yellow alarm caused the red or the problem is actually red to begin with

You could have a Red Alarm for different reasons, Card is disabled, the card has failed a self test or the t1 has no incoming signal.
Your “Service Provider” can’t troubleshoot a T1 connection; did they actually come on site?
Also you need to check on the D-Channel config on both ends, and make sure both are set to auto recover from a service interruption.
If I found something or not I would schedule a time that I could test the circuit at both ends and see if it will recover from a service interruption.

This is the current status of the system:

Thanks for the advice from you all.

You might want to switch the D-Channels because right now it looks like your runnig on the Back-up instead of the Primary.

Commands:
LD 96
SDCH DCH 15

Will there be any downtime for this change? (I.E. do it after hours?)

TDMTek - no the provider didn't come on site because it took longer for them to get here than it took me to decide to INI the switch. Once everything started working I cancelled the onsite visit. Depending on everyone's advice, I think I may have to have some onsite analysis.

If there is nothing wrong with the spans then a switch over to the main d-channel should not effect anything.

The former tech told me that one of our PRI cards is a bit flaky. Seems to be the same one going down. However, I would like to determine why whereas he did care to find out what the problem is. Usually disabling and re-enabling the loop brings everything back, but this time it seems to have lock up or something.

Also, the D-Ch's switchover during the mid-night routine.

Good Morning All,
below are the responses I receive from Ld 60 and 96. Can someone tell me if I should act on any concerns. I am surprised that the DCH is still running on the backup rather than the primary DCH.

Do you mean put LD 60 in the midnight routine?
