Hi all and Happy New Year,

As a perfect start for the new year, when I came in this morning I was told that no one was able to call in to our switch. I looked at the DTI/PRI card in slot 1 (Option 11c) and noticed that the "RED" light was lit. I disconnected and reconnected the PRI and a minute later everything was back to normal. As this is my first problem of this kind on the Option 11, I just wanted to make sure things are back to normal. What else should I check?

When I stat LD 60 this is what is returned:

PRI* TRK LOOP 1 - ENBL
FFMT/LCMT/YALMT: ESF/B8Z/FDL
TRACKING
SERVICE RESTORE: YES
YEL ALM PROCESS: YES
ALARM STATUS : NO ALARM
CH 01 - BUSY DID 3VCE * CH 02 - BUSY DID 3VCE *
CH 03 - BUSY DID 3VCE * CH 04 - BUSY DID 3VCE *
CH 05 - BUSY DID 3VCE * CH 06 - BUSY DID 3VCE *
CH 07 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 08 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 09 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 10 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 11 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 12 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 13 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 14 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 15 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 16 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 17 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 18 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 19 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 20 - IDLE DID 3VCE *
CH 21 - IDLE DID 3VCE * CH 22 - BUSY DID 3VCE *
CH 23 - BUSY DID 3VCE * CH 24 - DCH 11

When I LCNT in ld 60 I see this:

PRI TRK LOOP 1
TRSH CNT:
BPV -031
SLIPD -000
SLIPR -000
CRC -000
LOSFA -009
OS_BPV -000
OS_LOSFA-000
OS_YEL -002

Problems were so much easier on the Nostar. Thanks for all of the help I receive on this board, it is so much appreciated.

Scott

There was a LOS light on the CSU/DSU. I did the RLBK in LD 60. waited for a dozen system messages to pass, enabled the loop and the PRI came back up. I don't know if this is what brought it back or if it was coincidence. SBC says that they have done nothing to rectify the situation that was originally deemed by them to be a bad cable situation. The trouble ticket is still open until they can tell me one way or the other. For now though, we are UP!

Thanks for your help again. I am learning alot and hopefully will be able to pass on the knowledge.

this problem is coming back in. how far is your switch tail from the csu or smart jack, which ever one you are using?

John,

The csu is about 4 feet from the switch. The dmarc is about 9 floors down.

Here's one not related to here really. I was in to the switch via modem in LD 96 and accidentally entered an (!) The system initd. What's up with that?

Scott

you can not init a switch that way, the init was just about to happen... when a cpu get to busy, anything that cause more cpu load, (sch code) etc, can be the straw..i would have the cable between the csu and the smart jack replaced with cat 5.. if it's in a tie cable, you'll see that problem way to often.. it might have worked that way for ten years but now someone has added something to the tie that's killing you..even on the 700 volt side of a pri, cable has to be very clean, no taps no loads...on the low voltage side it has to be ten times that clean.. not a big job to drop a cable down the chase is the rooms are stacked..
